Carrefour and the ISO certificate
As Carrefour, the Saudi retail sale company, enters its eighth year, its mega stores continue their path of success on all aspects, and still the fulfilling of its customers' desires is a main priority and one of the most important reasons for this success and development. Therefore, it was vital to give the quality of their products and services the utmost importance, until it succeeded faithfully in obtaining the ISO 22000, the highest level of the ISO certificate in june 2010, it was then expanded to include all Carrefour stores in the Kingdom whatever their size or type is (supermarkets or hypermarkets).
The word ISO was made up using the first three letters from the International Standardization Organization, which is an international organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, concerned with quality knowledge. On the contrary to what is widely known, quality knowledge does not only mean good quality, but can also be explained as the knowledge of fulfilling the needs of customers through constant development of manufacturing processes, improving the form of manufacturing and services, and heightening the level of the working force while lowering the expenses, time, and effort needed to achieve the fulfillment of the customers' needs, and obtain their trust. The ISO has several certificates to reward, and Carrefour deserved the highest level of certification concerning the management of the food safety processes.
Carrefour Saudi Arabia could not have won this international award without the overwhelming and continuous effort that is a result of the contribution of all those working under Carrefour for many years, until Carrefour obtained its popularity now. This of course helped their constant expanding plans to come true, and the growing rates of their stores to continue increasing. The opening of their internal labs in june 2008, that work all day to control the various products' qualities, is a strong evidence for the amount of care Carrefour has to offer the best products for the best prices for their customers in the Kingdom, and to be proudly a branch of the international Carrefour name that hosts more that five million visitor a day all over the world.
